Featured CMDR “Boop” HojoTheFool

What was your first experience with the Elite universe and what keeps you playing it today?

It was just getting the game and having the awesome short intro gave me actual chills.

Elite is a game that can be played in so many ways — from casual to very serious. If I am bored of it I can play something else and weeks later it will still have something to do. 🙂

How did you come up with the name of your Commander?

Well Hojo is a nickname I got somewhere in my life and “The Fool” was the first thing that popped inside my head when setting up my playstation account.

Tell a quick story about your favorite moment in Elite: Dangerous.

Whenever I go out in the black exploring there is always a moment around the 1000 ly mark where I drop onto an awesome star and I just remember how pretty this game is!

Or when winging up for a good shooting’ 🙂

What made you decide to join The Fatherhood?

I started playing Elite: Dangerous because I discovered the Fuel Rats via YouTube. A fellow Rat linked me to The Fatherhood! He sadly left, but being part of The Fatherhood has created some awesome wing moments!

And I like having more places for hints, tips and opportunities to wing up!

In these COVID-19 times, online social contact is the best many of us can do!

Tell the story of how you earned your callsign.

Well during my first wing up (in my first week nonetheless ) we were fighting in a CZ and I “gently” sideswiped some of my fellow CMDRs… 😝

Tell us about your favorite ship in the game.

I own some many ships! Most of them are very good for very specific purposes.

But my most used ship is my fully engineered Bubble-taxi/Rat-ship. Decent jumprange, insanely agile and super fast! It is just so Zoomy!

Any fatherly advice for new CMDRs trying to make their way in Elite: Dangerous?

Don’t rush it. Take your time to try out different parts of the game.

Also engineering is fun and cool but for many things not necessary.

And mostly: Don’t be afraid of open. 98% of the time you won’t even meet other CMDRs. Those times you meet a friendly CMDR and just chat are awesome!

There are some hotspots where there is more risk, but you can just jump in solo for that short trip until you have a ship build that can stand up against a$$hats!
